When we were approached by the owners of Pete’s Cider Social to produce a commercial, we knew we wanted to make something different that the local community hasn’t seen yet, and so we did. To bring our team's expertise in storytelling and visual design to the next level, we partnered with Little Red Fern to help manage this large-scale project.

01. THE CONCEPT

If you're local to the Southwest Michigan area, you have probably heard of Pete’s Cider Social. They are well known for their hard ciders, nostalgic atmosphere, and vintage bowling alley.

The concept of “A Sip of Nostalgia” came about when our team decided to stop in for a site visit and, of course, a taste test of their beloved ciders. After learning more about the founders, their brand, and how they have mastered the art of cider-making, we knew it was important to center our video on what the people know them best for; bowling and sipping hard ciders. The one cider in particular we chose to highlight in the video was the award-winning, “Huntsman” cider.

As we dove into the storyline for this commercial, we wanted to create a feeling of nostalgia. We wanted viewers to feel like the power of just one sip of their famous cider could transport them back to the 1960’s. (Well not literally, but you get the idea.)

02. THE CHALLENGE

With only two weeks to get this project into production, our first challenge was to lock in all of our principal talent and extras. We partnered with Ryan Cheevers, of Little Red Fern to help write the script, cast extras, and act as our 1st AD on set. Since we were working on a tight deadline, our goal was to get this video out to the public right in time for tourist season in SW Michigan.

Second, we needed 1960’s costumes… and a lot of them. With over 30 extras involved, we had to seek out a few local wardrobe companies to help us source our outfits. With the help of Twin City Players and Ghostlight Theater, we secured as many costumes as we could and they were spot on with the retro theme we were going for.

03. THE RESULT

The video was a viral success locally here in SW Michigan. With over 5K views and over 100 shares in the first 24 hours, we were excited to see A “Sip of Nostalgia” video get the attention it deserved! The video was distributed across all major social media platforms and will serve as branded video for years to come.
